The Alliance Signs on with Parole Illinois in Support of IL SB2333
The Alliance is working with Parole Illinois to pass SB2333. SB2333 establishes a regular and merit-based system of review that allows incarcerated people who have served a minimum of 20 years the opportunity to earn release by demonstrating before the Prisoner Review Board their readiness to rejoin their communities.
Studies have proven time and again that people “age out” of anti-social behavior. It makes zero financial sense to spend tens of thousands of dollars every year to keep people in prison who could and should be reunited with their communities. Thousands of our brothers and sisters incarcerated in Illinois prisons are denied the opportunity to show that they are ready to be released. We believe that this should and must change, which is why we support the passage of SB2333.
